Adventures of a Romance Author: Let's Talk About Little Women! | Cover Reveal!

Hello, lovely readers! Well, it is time. After many hours spent with sweat and tears (almost literally), I can finally reveal to you my newest book! It is an extended edition of my short story, Hopelessly Flawed. My "Little Women" retelling for the readers who loved Laurie and wanted him to be with Jo. You know who you are. However, this new book isn't just an extended version of a story I already have ... It's become something new.

If you have followed me for a while, you know I am a HUGE "Little Women" fan. I own three of the film adaptions (of which 2 are on my DVD shelf). I have several different eBook editions and a very old hardback edition from my childhood.

And I have a passionate disappointment in the original book. The fact Laurie married Amy and not Jo. Obviously, I've already said it. But this enforces the sentiments. I love Louisa Mae Alcott. Always have, always will. But Jo and Laurie!

Without further ado, here is the cover for the new book! Cute, yes?! I've been inspired by several of the cartoon-style covers in the book world and I felt it was appropriate to give Laurie's book this design. It took many hours of fiddling, but I do believe this cover fits the story I plan to share.

In addition to the new story, I have other ideas of a similar theme up my sleeve. Such as a gender-bend retelling. I will have a full post on this another time.

I need to gush for a second. The 2019 film adaption is my top favorite of all the adaptions. And not just because Timothee Chalamet portrays Laurie. No, no. I like this version because it covers almost all the bases. And yes, the classic story follows, mainly, Jo. But there are chapters following Jo's sisters, and there are also chapters following Laurie. Some earlier adaptions don't have them. Understandably, each film focuses on a different aspect of the book. If every film followed the book exactly, I think the movies would have been too long.

I cannot begin to share the number of times I have seen the movies. I know everything that will happen, and yet I react the same. My emotions are always the same. My brain knows exactly what to expect, but my heart acts like it hasn't known bittersweet heartache before.

Speaking of bittersweet, I was reading a particular chapter in "TEDDY" the other day. I had the same reaction as when I watch the movies. Except this chapter is of my own making. I was crying. It was so beautiful and I cannot wait for readers to dive in.

I want to thank everyone who took the time to read this post. I hope you found it entertaining. If you did like it, comment below what your favorite classic story is. I hope you come back soon. I try to post once, sometimes twice, a week. Stay safe, stay awesome. See you in the funny papers!
